Areas of the Event Horizon and Stationary Limit Surface for a Kerr Black Hole

چکیده

The notions of an event horizon, (EH), and stationary limit surface, (SLS), are important concepts in black hole physics. The former requires no comment, while the latter is less well-known. The SLS geometrically bounds a region outside the EH known as an ergosphere. Inside the ergosphere a test particle cannot travel along the orbit of a timelike Killing vector and remain at rest, and the red shift is infinite on the SLS. While surface area of an EH has been related to the entropy of a black hole, that of the SLS has not been given a physical interpretation. In this note our approximate evaluation of the area of a SLS suggests a reinterpretation of the area of an EH.

Uniqueness of near-horizon geometries of rotating extremal AdS4 black holes

We consider stationary extremal black hole solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations with a negative cosmological constant in four dimensions. We determine all non-static axisymmetric near-horizon geometries and all static near-horizon geometries for black holes of this kind. This allows us to deduce that the most general near-horizon geometry of an asymptotically globally AdS4 rotating extre...

Analytic Solutions to the Constraint Equation for a Force-free Magnetosphere around a Kerr Black Hole

The Blandford-Znajek constraint equation for a stationary, axisymmetric black-hole force-free magnetosphere is cast in a 3+1 absolute space and time formulation, following Komissarov (2004). We derive an analytic solution for fields and currents to the constraint equation in the far-field limit that satisfies the Znajek condition at the event horizon. This solution generalizes the Blandford-Zna...

The inner Cauchy horizon of axisymmetric and stationary black holes with surrounding matter

We investigate the interior of regular axisymmetric and stationary black holes surrounded by matter and find that for non-vanishing angular momentum of the black hole the spacetime can always be extended regularly up to and including an inner Cauchy horizon. We provide an explicit relation for the regular metric at the inner Cauchy horizon in terms of that at the event horizon. As a consequence...

Four Quantum Conservation Laws for Black Hole Stationary Equilibrium Radiation Processes

The classical first law of thermodynamics for a Kerr-Newman black hole (KNBH) is generalized to a law in quantum form on the event horizon. Then four quantum conservation laws on the KNBH equilibrium radiation process are derived. The Bekenstein-Hawking relation S = A/4 is exactly established. It can be inferred that the classical entropy of black hole arises from the quantum entropy of field q...

The Uniqueness Theorem for Rotating Black Hole Solutions of Self-gravitating Harmonic Mappings

We consider rotating black hole configurations of self-gravitating maps from spacetime into arbitrary Riemannian manifolds. We first establish the integrability conditions for the Killing fields generating the stationary and the axisymmetric isometry (circularity theorem). Restricting ourselves to mappings with harmonic action, we subsequently prove that the only stationary and axisymmetric, as...
